Kidnapped Doughboy Popping Up All Over Country

(KUTV) PLAISTOW, New Hampshire Ransom letters have been arriving at a New Hampshire grocery store. The letters don't demand dough, but they do threaten the Pillsbury Doughboy.

Someone made off with the store's 4-foot tall mascot nearly three weeks ago, and every few days pictures arrive of the doughboy posing all over the country.

Employees suspect the he's looking for a new home since his grocery store is closing after 20 years. One of the first letters read, "If you close the store, the Pillsbury Doughboy will be baked."

Worried store managers have been asking the public to be on the lookout for their puffy pal.

Is he a Gingerbreadman Wanna-Be. Or is he like those Garden Gnomes who are found gather on a nearby lawn and carring signs of protest.

For a different take on the Gingerbread Man, read "The Big Over Easy" by Jaspar Fforde. He is a Hannibal Lecter character in that story!

Hopefully, the Doughboy won't lose too much weight while in captivity, who wants a skinny Doughboy?

Those pictures that arrive every few days; are they of the real doughboy who was stolen from the grocery or are they imposters? How do we know? With the picture provided with this article and using Adobe Photo Deluxe, I can, and might, send a picture of the doughboy leaning against Dolly Parton's boobs (actually the Dolly Parton statue that stands on the lawn in front of the Sevier County, TN courthouse) with that silly grin on his face.

Maybe the CIA or NSA or Donald Rumsfield should put our top analysts on the job verifying authenticity of the photos before acceding to any demands.

I heard on the news last evening that the doughboy had returned. From listening to the interview with his owner, it sounds like he took the prank in the good-natured manner that was intended. My wife & I laughed all during the story!
