The other day, I visited an asylum.
There I met an elderly man in a cell.
He was mumbling about undressed beauty, loving hatred, dark brightness and vicious simplicity of life.
I pondered over his twisting talks and our lives' race, cruel acts and fanatical wisdom.
True, life is a madhouse.
Mad I am too.

As a form this worked for me. With the two longer lines.
"Our lives' race" is correct grammatically, but it's problematic because "our lives'" is plural, while "race" is singular. With so many of us, is there just one race? Surely we each run our own race. Might be worth tinkering with.
To be honest ...'lives' race' was written thinking 'race for materialistic progress'.
Progress .. being common ... I thought 'races' would not be correct.
Still, I am not very sure about correct grammar ..
May be I have to rethink again.
Regards.
