Nice Haiku! By the title, I thought that you might have written about a Harley adventure. LIttle did I know that it would be about 2 of my favorite subjects - thunder and lightning!
By any chance did you notice I got the title drawn from a Garth Brooks song. :)
I love summer storms.
I've never been to NM, but I want to go wicked bad. Whoops, I've reverted to talking like a Bostonian the minute the cowboy boots came off (kidding, I did not wear boots but I wore my fave necklace (Hi David) with the boot--complete with a little spur. More folks in the Southwest noticed the little boot than anything else, it was a huge hit and I made many contacts because it got noticed and admired. And, for my friend I got her the book Don't squat with your spurs on
Yep, I love summer storms but this one bothered me as I was out of my comfort zone trying to catch some shut eye at 3am on my 34th floor hotel room (great view, but I'm not one for sleeping in a skyscaper...it feels weird when I can't feel the soil beneath my feet, you know?)

It's off the No Fences album.
The Thunder Rolls
By Garth Brooks
Three thirty in the morning
Not a soul insight
The city's lookin' like a ghost town
On a moonless summer night
Raindrops on the windshield
There's a storm moving in
He's headin' back from somewhere
That he never should have been
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
Every light is burnin'
In a house across town
She's pacin' by the telephone
In her faded flannel gown
Askin' for miracle
Hopin' she's not right
Prayin' it's the weather
That's kept him out all night
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She's waitin' by the window
When he pulls into the drive
She rushes out to hold him
Thankful he's alive
But on the wind and rain
A strange new perfume blows
And the lightnin' flashes in her eyes
And he knows that she knows
And the thunder rolls
And the thunder rolls
The thunder rolls
And the lightnin' strikes
Another love grows cold
On a sleepless night
As the storm blows on
Out of control
Deep in her heart
The thunder rolls
She runs back down the hallway
To the bedroom door
She reaches for the pistol
Kept in the dresser drawer
Tells the lady in the mirror
He won't do this again
Cause tonight will be the last time
She'll wonder where he's been
