In the twilight of this morning
As the bird began her song
I was watering the garden
For the frost had come along
'Mongst the tender shoots of green
Within the fertile soil so sweet
Lay a dozen deep depressions
Roundish, not like human feet
Straight away I knew the answer
Then a smile spread cross my face
Gentle deer had come to gather
In my little garden space
Not a single sprout was damaged
Yet these hoof prints make quite clear
Just outside my bedroom window
In the garden came the deer
Were they checking what was growing
Planning summer's savory snacks?
Or just pausing in their passing
Leaving only telling tracks
My heart thrills from simply knowing
These fine creatures passed this way
I'll think of them and I'll bless them
As I go about my day
Further, as I think about it
I am thankful for the frost
Had me out this chilly morning
Else this pleasure would be lost
Such a wondrous simple beauty
Life astounds me for I see
How the one affects the other
In our great diversity
Though much life exists outside me
We are altogether one
I am part of this great life web
Gladly greeting morning's sun
Gentle deer tucked in the woodland
Thank you for this moment mine
May your rest be sweet and pleasant
As you lay beneath the pine

massaged my soul's heart
making it to feel soothe
with thrills you gave for a start
So lovely
My favorite part ...
Such a wondrous simple beauty
Life astounds me for I see
How the one effects the other
In our great diversity
As you lay beneath the pine.
Just a lovey thought with which to end a nice poem, Cat.
