Â In 1952 Bruetsch of the US reported demyelination and other pathology in schizophrenia. He felt that there are different types of schizophrenia which have different neuropathologies. I agree with this because schizophrenia may be like cancer and like mental retardation. There are many types of cancer and many types of mental retardation.
Â As far as demyelination, my explanation is that the axon may be swelling up and bursting the myelin sheath. My theory is that the neuron is being flooded with too many amino acids. Thus Bruetsch's finding of demyelination is consistent with my amino acid flooding theory.
