1. Less than a year ago, I married a widower who is also my best friend! He also came with Rodney, my Downs stepson who keeps us laughing.
2. I live in the middle of a national forest, so needless to say I almost don't need to go anywhere for a vacation. I'm already there.
3. When I taught I loved 2 of my grandchildren as my students too .
4. My parents let me take lessons on any musical instrument I wanted. And mom let me practice instead of doing the dishes.
5. My four kids are all successful in their fields, still play music and are happy too
6. I've got 11 adorable grandchildren who happen to also be respectful.
7. I majored in biology and music in college and got my MA in special education and had the privilege of teaching in all three areas.
8. I'M RETIRED!
9. I was lucky to have 4 musical children, so we had a family band for about 15 years.
10. Through music and dance, I've traveled the world, made friends around the world, and sung and danced with some pretty wonderful people.
11. I love staying up late, sleeping in past 8, and having time for 2 cups of fresh brewed coffee. (with cream, of course)
12. I'm an inveterate bargain hunter (used stuff, that is)
13. I love cooking, have a huge kitchen with a commercial stove, and have two guys that will eat anything I create!
14. Gardening is killing my back and I love getting my hands dirty.
15. I will can or preserve anything!
16. After years of classical music training, I taught myself to play by ear, developed a method and have taught hundreds of kids to senior citizens how to play. I love meeting up with some of them who are still playing and enjoying.
17. I've got a cool job on the weekends as organist/choir director at my church. Many of my dearest friends have been people who have been my choirs over the years.
18. I'm going to take watercolor classes again this summer.
19. I've never colored my hair and don't wear makeup, pantyhose or a bra. Comfort all the way.
20. I've got 3 sewing machines and like making gifts for everybody.
21. I don't want to talk about my first two husbands, though the first was just unfaithful, and the second was definitely "borderline character disorder".
22. I got to play the lead in many community theater musical productions which my kids were also in. Then I directed all of them in high school productions. Hm, they all had the leads. (actually I was smart enough to have a panel do the casting).
23. I have twin boys, one of whom has twin girls and the other married a triplet.
24. Gather is keeping me from doing the housework, and it's a great excuse too.
25. Right now Spring is my favorite season.

I love #19!
I envy #8.
Already I liked you. Now I like you more.
Magi
I've been a big fan for well, ever since I got here! I envy your home's location (it's 100 deg outside and I have precious little shade in my yard :( )
I covet your kitchen, and would love to borrow your sewing machines!
A pity I can't afford to bribe you to make housecalls for music lessons ;) My youngest received a keyboard for Christmas and is currently pounding out "Yankee Doodle Dandy" about three hours a day!
Great list!
And yes, Wilhelmine, our family band made a tape(before CD's ) and then my dance band did also. Jack has made them into CD's for me for archival purposes.
Gisela, go do the dishes when he practices. It can't be any worse that 40 4th graders learning their recorders together. It gets better and there will be extra haloes in heaven for mothers who listen to this stuff until their kids can play decently. (I actually encouraged one of my kids to give up the clarinet because the band director was horrible and I knew I didn't want to go to those concerts. I got him a guitar and a mondolyn instead)
I'd need a van for all my instruments but I sure would love to join your jam.
In addition to classroom vocal music, I have been teaching recorder for quite a few years. That is how I know that you are a saint. Sainthood is a win/win career! You are my new guru of music!
thankyou for sharing more of your life with us Carol.
Gather is a great excuse for not doing housework. I HEAR YA !!!
Dawn--I'm glad your daughter is learning so many instruments. Good musicians usully play more than one instrument, because it's not the instrument technique but the music inside you that comes out when you play.
Maureen--I'd love to have some tea with you . In fact I think I wrote an article in Jan. about my homemade herb tea.
Jan--what instruments do you play. Be sure nd write bout your music in the "homemade Music" group
Carolyn--you're absolutely right about the seasons. I love being somewhere where there are 4 seasons.
Kathryn--I'm there for sure about housework. It's almost disgraceful, but then I think about a 98 year old friend who has two computers, writes poetry every day, does massive geneology work and I can hardly ever remember her doing housework in the 45 years I've known her. She never had time.
Faith--Happy spring back to you. Thanks for coming over.
Annina--What kind of coffee do you want. We could go for a tramp in the woods and look at the wildflowers.
I guess I just adore your attitude.
