When I was 15 I got 2 small tattoos. They are home made and while I was stupid to do it, I don't regret it. One is a star and moon on my right pinky, the other is an aunk (Egyptian symbol of life) on my right boob.
I have been thinking about getting another tattoo for awhile now and today my husband and I are going to a tattoo parlor to "look" around. My husband I should mention has 3 tattoos, 2 of which are rather large.
I want to get some sort of bracelet on my right wrist... maybe a vine wrapped around and then creeping down my hand.. or maybe a string of stars to go with my star and moon.
I would like to know if any of you have tattoos and if any of you have any advice or ideas for me!

*I love this one, it reminds me of my youth

*this one is too thick, I wouldn't mind getting it covered

1) When you are 85, will you want to have this piece of art on you? What if your worldview radically changes at some point?
2) Would this art be something you would ever need to discourage your children or grandchildren from having?
3) What would it look like if, heaven forbid, you had saggy skin or were overweight for some medical reason you couldn't control?
4) Will it be in a place that could keep you from getting employment ( I used to work for a retail company that didn't allow visible tats ).
That's my input. Hope it helps. If you find something you think you like, you might try a henna tattoo first to make sure. Cheers!
Never get one where a judge can see it.
AND - especially for women - don't get one in the small of your back.
Nice brest shot! Will this be flagged as potentially inappropriate?
Kat cool! I saw a girl with a cool tree frog hanging off her toe!
don, thanks, but I have enough t-shirts ;-)
This was a interesting article.
I'm not a fan of tatoos, for anybody. The skin changes too much, too fast, and they inevitably get kind of nasty looking. (The two pics you posted as a part of the article are the perfect example; they've started to blur and 'spread'.) There are so many better media for art...
And is Richard saying your breasts are inappropriate???!
thanks everyone!
I think you mean ones that show on their hands or necks, etc?
But I will say this about tattoos, if you go into a tattoo parlor not even knowing what you want to have permenantly on you, then maybe you need to think of that. Do you want a tattoo that you have picked off of a wall that one in every 4 ladies in your town have? Or do you want your tattoo to be well thought out, designed, and be something that has meaning to you and that only you will ever have? My theory with tattoos is that you don't have any idea what you want or if you are just going to go in and pick one, that will be the tattoo that you may regret. Tats can be meaningful memories of life and experience, not just something that hangs on a wall. Make sure yours is meaningful for you. You will love it that much more!
When I was 17 I got a mickey mouse on my boob, and that was just silly. I still kind of like it because it reminds me what an idiot I could be, but the ones that I have designed and thought out mean the world to me.
What di you decide to get for your new tattoo?
Only tattoo advice I have is DO NOT put a name on you. I am somewhat superstitious and everyone said a name is doom .. bad luck .. a bad omen all that jazz and I was like whatever and well .. sure was! LOL
The ones on my back didn't hurt or the ones on my arm other than the inside of my arm .. that part is sensitive and bleeds a lot.
Make sure for the first year after you get your tattoo you cover it when you go out in the sun. I used to use a chapstick with a sunscreen and that worked fine. Protected the ink from fading.
