I have a vision for the future
that nobody quite understands
the tiger looks after the rhino
the lion lies down with the lamb

this world is filled with poison
with hatred mistrust and extremes
but I see a brighter tomorrow
this is my dream

I walked long ago for the freedom
to live without hatred and war
even though I had no idea
world war three was outside the door

This world needs hope and laughter
to counteract all of the screams
there has to be hope for tomorrow
this is my dream

If I walked around the earth for peace
at least a hundred times
would it even make a change
and rectify the crimes

If we loved our enemies
our lives would be serene
there'd be no greed or hatred

Many times, I still fall from this rather lofty goal as we all do. It is the desire to improve my response to anger, jealosy and greed that helps me reach the mark.

Loving your enemy is not such an unlikely solution when you put it into the context of a response that defuses conflict. Consider Ghandi's nonviolent resistance, which not only shamed the British in the eyes of the world, but also made the soldiers charged with enforcing order lose heart in the face of these inoffensive people, something that an armed response could never have accomplished.
