I created a new group this afternoon, Election Reform and Voting Rights (electionreform.gather.com):
--------------------
A place to talk about election reform and voting rights, both to learn and to advocate. Some examples of topics that fit here:
- Verified voting and paper ballots
- Proportional representation vs. first past the post systems
- How voter registration and ID requirements affect minorities or the porr
- Demographics and redistricting reform
- Voting rights for noncitizen immigrants
- Stories from the front lines, poll watching, election protection...
- Instant runoff voting and related systems
- the Voting Rights Act
- Computer security and voting processes
- How different rates of participation by groups are affected by voting systems
Although I am in the US and work on election reform issues here, discussion of voting systems and needed reforms in other democratic countries is welcome.
This is not a group for discussiing ideologies or political positions unrelated to voting rights and election reform.
--------------------
If these topics interest you, please join! (and post :)
