This morning the famed Caltech Cannon made an unexpected appearance on the MIT campus. Rumors are that Caltech noticed that it was missing, but had no clue that it had taken a cross country journey.
The cannon appeared to be in good health, and was quite popular in it's new home. MIT hackers decided that the cannon needed to fit into the MIT culture, and had a special class ring (known as a "Brass Rat") made for the cannon.
Apparently this is not the first time the cannon has decided to leave Pasadena. At some point in the past, it made a trip up to Harvey Mudd. One can only assume that the folks at CalTech just don't know how to hold onto their cannon.

I lost track of this in the press.... How did the whole situation get resolved? Did MIT pay to have the cannon shipped back? Who picked up 'the tab'? Was anyone officially prosecuted?
Thanks for the great photos too....
They tried to swoop in, looking all cool. MIT was on-top of it, met them as they arrived, and helped them get it back, while preparing an early morning barbecue for the hungry caltech students.
