When you create a new Gather Group, you will need to set permissions for your group members. Depending on the needs of your group, there are certain permissions that you will want to keep to yourself as the group owner or give to a few trusted group moderators.
Member permissions are divided into two categories: default permissions and advanced permissions.
Default Permissions
These permissions appear on the group registration page when you are creating your group as well as your group settings page (click Group settings in your group dashboard on the left hand column of your group page to access this screen). Default member permissions can be changed at any time. As the group owner, you automatically have all of these permissions assigned to you.
Default Member Permissions allow members to:
- invite people to join the group
- publish articles and images to the group using their member name (for more on this click here)
- send Broadcast Messages to the entire group (for more on this click here)
Un-check the box next to any of these permissions to allow only the group owner access to these functions.
Best Practice: In most cases, you will want to check Number 1 and Number 2, allowing all members to post articles and invite others to join your group. For most open groups, these will be the default settings that you want new members to have.

Advanced Permissions
Depending on the needs of your group, you might decide to share moderation responsibilities with one or more trusted members of your group. Advanced member permissions can be changed at any time. As the group owner, you automatically have all of these permissions assigned to you. To give another member moderation capabilities you will need to access their advanced permissions.
To do so, click Recent Members at the bottom of your group homepage. Find the name of the member whom you wish to give moderation permissions and click member settings under his/her personal icon. You will then be taken to that member's advanced permissions page.
Advanced Member Permissions allow members to:
- Moderate content posted by group members (accept, reject, select features, and remove articles and images)
- Moderate members of the group (accept, reject, block, and remove group members)
- Publish articles and images using the group name as the author name. All content moderators can manage and edit this content. (for more on this click here)
Check the box next to any of these permissions to allow a member access to these functions.

Remove/Block Members
Through every member's advanced permissions page, the group owner and moderators can remove or block a member from the group. Blocking the member will ensure that they can not join your group again using the same username.
If you find that you have set the wrong member permissions for your group, there is no need to worry. Changing your Default Member Permissions will automatically change the permissions for everyone who is currently a member of the group. You will, however, have to go back to any individual permissions you have set by hand and make those changes again.
NOTE: When you change a group's settings, it may take a few minutes for those changes to take effect.

They do at least provide you with the general idea... like driving without your glasses on...! (assuming you need glasses, of course)
In the meantime, if you view article images right below the group icon in the article and then click on the images you can see their full, clear versions. Hope that helps!
1. Re-capture the image from the screen and save it as a gif instead of a jpg. That will eliminate the haziness around the text. jpg's are typically best with photographs.
2. Re-size the image a width of 395 pixels, as the Gather is automatically forcing the image to be that width anyway (at least on my computer). If I right click on the image and look at the properties, that is the width it is telling me it is. However if you copy the image into Photoshop it is actually 550 pixels wide.

1) Make a private group. A private group can only be seen by group members. Content published only to that private group can also only be seen by group members. That carries over to comments made on those articles as well. To make a group private, simply go into your group settings and in group member settings select "This group can be seen by: group members only (private)." You should also select under group content settings "Content can be seen by: group members only (private)." If you go this route, the group owner will have to actively invite specific members to the group.
2) You also have the option of making a group public but making all content within the group private. This way, Gather members will be able to find the group through searching but will not be able to see content in the group. To do this, go into group settings and select "This group can be seen by: everyone (public)" under group member settings. You should also select "Group content can be seen by: group members only (private)." With this option, you should also select under group member settings "People who want to join will: be reviewed by a moderator before acceptance" or "need to be invited by a group member."
I hope this helps!
