Gather feedback: Gather it!

Shava, Great feedback. I'm not sure if you've noticed but we added a new "Just Me" option to the article viewing options. This is a great way to save a draft. The article isn't public so you can return to it later and continue to work on the piece. Try it and let us know if this meets the needs of your suggestion.

I love the blog it Idea... sometimes when reading other people's blogs, it jogs a memory or something and you want to maybe blog it... but then you just don't remember it...

hmmm... Is there way to go back and see easily what's marked "just me?" I just assumed that was for folks who wanted to leave things as private diary entries.

Also, what happens to the entry in the queue if you edit it and make it generally published? Does it re-date for the current date so if someone comes to look at "my content" they see it as my most recent article?

These are great ideas Shava! I too had the same idea about the "Just Me" option. Good to know that is what it is intended for. I have the same questions as Shava. Also, along those lines . . . sometimes a new group comes along and you realize you have old articles that will be great in the new group. The problem is, when you go publish them to the group - it goes to the back because of the publish date. Is there a way to fix that? I have sent a group e-mail for one of my articles that I really wanted feedback on but I knew would get lost in the shuffle. This seems a bit annoying though. Perhaps preserve the original publish date, but post it as new to the group as of the date it is added to the group.

Thanks Shava! I featured this post because I think your second suggestion is an interesting topic for us to consider (no doubt we can make the drafts concept easier to see, too. If you didn't notice it/like it, others must feel similarly.

Would you use some kind of Gather toolbar that let you bookmark off-Gather content and easily rate/comment on it? Are you interested in seeing what your friends, family, colleagues, and fellow Gatherers are reading? Would you like the guidance on what is cool off-site, too? Let us know!

Making the draft concept easier would a nice thing.

Absolutely. If I could just have a queue of web pages to blog about later, it would help, but even if it were just to refer people to a story of interest. Thing is, I see a dozen interesting things I don't have time to comment on, but I know people would find of interest. But I don't usually feel that I can just say "Hey, look at this!" without saying more. I certainly wouldn't just copy in outside material without framing it in my own opinion, that's just reposting someone else's work.

But if we had something like:

And then maybe if five people on the site found the same story, it would float up, sort of a consensus gather version of google news?

But then, where in the interface would we put it? :) Maybe we need sections, like a newspaper...

Well, I posted that I might be away for weeks when I drew jury duty -- but they didn't even keep me a full day, so false alarm...

I would think the blog-it thingy would be just a script button on your toolbar. For the geekier amongst us, see this.

Good ideas! I've been keeping a word document open - call it 'working' and copying things over there for future use. Thought it was a great plan, but often forget to copy the url and can't find my way back to the original if I want. So, while we have Santa's knee - may I ask for a bookmark section too, if possible? Knowing me, you'll give us one, I'll put everything I read in it, and still not be able to find anything, but others might be more organized of self-restrained than I.
