Supernatural Phenomenon: Fact or Fiction?

No, it's just a general question. Either some of it's possible or none of it's true. If you've seen a ghost then you believe in the existence of ghosts. I'm not concerned with whether the Amityville ghosts are real, just whether ghosts in general are real. Specific incidences are not shared among us all so we can't say if something specific truly happened. Tell me what you think is true and what isn't?

Like you, I want to believe but haven`t had any experience that would sway me either way. Aliens, yeah. I mean it`s that whole it`d be a big waste of space if it was just us. A cliche I know but I believe that. Ghosts, angels, God...I`m just not really sure. I think that maybe we just think too logically and then we say that certain things aren`t and can`t happen. Who`s really to say that they can`t happen...and I lost my train of thought. I hope you kind of get what I mean.

Emily, I always get what you mean. :) And yeah, we're on the same page. Definetely a giant waste of space if it was just us in the whole universe.

What we're currently saying now is that extraterrestrials don't exist. With every word that comes out of our respective mouths we are demonstrating just how much we do and don't know about the vast space that surrounds us.

Hannah is the only supernatural phenom I know, so far.

So it's settled then. Hannah is proof of supernatural phenomenon. I don't think anyone could deny that. :P

I've had many prayers answered so I definitely know there is a God. With God comes angels. I'm a big optimist. I believe anything and everything is possible.

It is difficult to prove. Someone may be sincere in what has happened to them but how do you prove the actual experience was supernatural...
When I was 14 my friend and I were walking near a church one evening and both saw what we believed was an apparition. We were scared so we did not go over to shake hands, can I prove it to anyone?
Other out of the ordinary occurence may be subtle even to the person involved.
Just talked to an older man, who had no reason to convince me of anything and is a down to earth person who paves roads for a living.
His wife died 1 year ago, he recounted seeing her in his home, she was sitting on the bed and had come to tell him something important.
I think the supernatural as we call it may give us a temporary glance in a dimension of reality we cannot be part of - in this body.
Maybe it is someting we have to learn to do before we destroy ourselves.
I would be surprised if this is all there is....there are more dimensions than the one we live in.

That's an excellent thought. Now I gotta ask, by other dimensions do you mean parallel worlds, alternate worlds, or alternate planes of existence? By parallel worlds I mean pretty much the same world as ours but with slight changes. Alternate worlds are complete different worlds from ours. And alternate planes are maybe higher planes of existence. For instance when you die, you move on to a different plane?

Psychic abilities do exist and Aliens do too...Paranormal remains in the 'science of mysteries'-the Skeptics have theories-but the burden of proof will prevail eventually...Wr all live in this immense universe of mystery and knowledge-we all cling to a faith, we all have what omnipotent God we worshiip-we have to have faith-hope and love to co-exist on this planet...I believe in reincarnation and as Jihaan said-we go on to a higher plane- at least i would like to think until we are complete. Technology has grown as the world ages more-what is or who is to say where this knowledge came from in the great minds of civilization?

Jihaan -- Sorry to report that nothing supernatural has come my way during the many years I've walked this terra firma. I'm hoping it (the super and natural part) saves itself for when I LEAVE terra firma and become one with it (if you catch my drift). Heaven, take away the annoying harps, sounds great.

I understand the skeptic's point of view. Sure, you have to be skeptical sometimes because people do lie about their so-called experience. But, Jihaan, to answer your question, I am a believer. To me personally, they are real and they do exist.

I believe that after we die our spirit turns into energy. Einstein proved with his theory of relativity that matter is not lost, it becomes energy. Perhaps some of the eneregy is in small particles like matter that others sometimes see or perceive. I don't know. I believe that people have experiences that are not easily expalinable. The fact they are not easily explainable does not make them false.

The fact that science can explain certain things does not negate the spirituality of an experience. A quick Google.com searh for "God part of the brain' will give you an idea of what I mean. One of the most interesting responses is at http://users.dls.net/~palfano/alper.htm .

Yes, I believe in supernatural spirits/beings, but I do not believe these being that are purported to be aliens are aliens. I hold the belief that they are demonic beings which occupy the first heaven or Earth's atmosphere. Of course, one must necessarily believe in the Devil/Satan to entertain this. For example, take the closeness in appearance to the demons in Dante's Inferno to the human concept of aliens. Many things in the paranormal world are sometimes difficult to explain or to believe. Much we do not understand.
I come across this quite often when writing and researching folklore.

Jihaan, The supernatural is something I too, believe in. You hit the nail on the head when you said the word "faith" which is just believing in something that is intangible, and cannot be proven. There are many things out there that people just have faith in, the supernatural, God, etc. I have heard too many stories from my family, one actually involving the ghost of my father, and I have experienced too much to ignore that these things exist. Wonderus, but also scary!

I think the Universe is far larger than any of us can comprehend, so why wouldn't there be things that exist that we don't normally see/hear/sense? I have had experiences that lead me to believe that Shakespeare had a point when he said "there are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy," but probably nothing that would convince a skeptic. For example, my beloved cat recently passed away, and I often have the feeling that she is in my room. Maybe others wouldn't believe this, or would say it was wishful thinking, but I know she is there.
