I withdraw my support
of things I know You think are wrong.
I see now how it only hurt me, Lord,
when I let it get me caught in the throng.
Your words are so wise,
my dear Lord I can finally see!
Those words are not to hurt me,
but to set me free!
With sublime abandon
Lord, I come to you!
You give perfect direction.
A life that can be free!
A love that is unending!
A debt that has been wiped clean!
Jesus, for all these things
I come to You with sublime abandon.
I give up my old life
for a new life in You.
Old habits die hard, Lord,
but with You I know I will get through.
Please guide me and don't let go!
When the road gets tough again.
Deep in my heart I will always know
You love me more than I can imagine!
With sublime abandon
Lord, I come to you!
You give perfect direction.
A life that can be free!
A love that is unending!
A debt that has been wiped clean!
Jesus, for all these things
I come to You with sublime abandon.
I surrender my will to you, Jesus!
Please take the wheel!
Lead me down the right path, Lord,
don't let me make the wrong deal.
Help me change my will into Yours.
I know that is the best choice.
Your will is perfect, Lord.
Let my heart hear Your voice.
With sublime abandon
Lord, I come to you!
You give perfect direction.
A life that can be free!
A love that is unending!
A debt that has been wiped clean!
Jesus, for all these things
I come to You with sublime abandon.
I cease trying to continue
in my own wretched thoughts!
Lord, govern my mind
before it completely rots!
Keep my eyes on the glory
that You offer through grace.
I know my true prize will be
the day I see Your sweet face!
With sublime abandon
Lord, I come to you!
You give perfect direction.
A life that can be free!
A love that is unending!
A debt that has been wiped clean!
Jesus, for all these things
I come to You with sublime abandon.
I yield my desires
for a life spent with Jesus the King.
A life that is eternal.
Long will this heart sing!
Lord prepare a place for me
behind those heavenly gates.
Jesus I thank you!
I can never repay those rates.
With sublime abandon
Lord, I come to you!
You give perfect direction.
A life that can be free!
A love that is unending!
A debt that has been wiped clean!
Jesus, for all these things
I come to You with sublime abandon.

Barbara & Stephen - This is my first attempt at a song. I call myself Poetically Incorrect because poetry is not something I am trained in nor do I really know what I am doing, so if it comes out good it is by chance lol! When I was writing it though, I could not help but hear it as a song! Barbara- I think MercyMe or Casting Crowns would be good. Maybe even Jeremy Camp.
Thank you both for your kind comments! Hugs!
What melody was going around in your head as you wrote it. That's important for me as I want to play with putting it to music (with permission of course) with our praise band at church. P.S. Welcome aboard Doulos!
Pam - Yeah - I am working closer at a balance, and getting back to the heart of my passion in writing. This was really fun to write and very fulfilling. Hugs back at ya!
Aunt Judy - I never heard Josette sing, but I bet she did it well! Maybe she whispered a few lines in my ear! Love you!
Dr. Jeff - A hug back at ya! I would be HONORED for you to try to turn this into a song for real - I would like to ask if you could to send me a copy of the song's music and a recording of your band playing it, and include my name as one of the writers of the lyrics. The melody is it's own - I am not sure how to explain it to you. I know nothing of writing songs or music. I hear it in a male voice - kind of rough sounding voice. I can't even really sing it myself - I have an idea of what the music sounds like in my head - I can hear it but I have no idea how to translate that to you. I may be able to talk to our Music Minister and have him help me help you - but other than that -I am not sure. Let me know if you have other questions and I will get back to you soon as well.
Tanja - Thanks - I wish I could sing it too! I have always wished I had the gift of singing but alas, my voice is only appreciated by babies who know no better lol! When they get older they ask me not to sing anymore! LOL!
Love, Maria
Cathy - Thanks! I really appreciate you reading and commenting!
Dawn - Thanks! I loved Edwards choice of words, and to me, it just spoke of Christian reference (though to many I am sure that it does not). It was very fitting for me and my life.
