Poem - Seeing you ruins my day

Today I woke up with a smile on my face
I must have had a wonderful dream
The morning sun lit up this place
The most beautiful thing I've seen

I passed friends and strangers on the street
All of them said hello
Happily, I returned their greet
And felt an inner glow

Today is such a wonderful day
Nothing can bring me down
But then I see you walking my way
My smile turns into a frown

A thousands images assault my mind
Each one opening old wounds
Endless thoughts both pleasant and unkind
Returning again too soon

I really hate seeing you there
So I turn and walk away
I should have said that you're unfair
And seeing you ruins my day

This is an old poem...really old. It's amazing that I felt so strongly back then, but since meeting my wife... all those old strong feelings I had during those past romances seem so ridiculous now.

Isn't it amazing how love and hate can be so tangled up together? A person that we cared about so much and then we cannot bear the thought of seeing their face again. They can literally take the brightness right out of a sunshine-filled day. I'm glad that you have a new life now.

A great poem. Love can bring you joy and love can bring you fear, and downright hate. Sad but true...
intense words. I think most of us have been at this point in life with someone. Thanks for sharing this one.

Emotions are like the sea crashing upon a rocky coastline or a smooth sandy beach. The change can be in the blink of the eye. You caught that in your poem. Thanks for sharing, a fine poem.
