luckily, we had just filled the birdfeeder out front, and the birds had found their way there. the majority of them huddled in the bush by our window, but one red-topped pileated woodpecker was visible, getting food and then taking it to the tree, to crack it open. i kept trying to get a photo of him, but he was faster than my finger.

this morning, lillie took a picture of her swingset, and said, "mama, no snow today!"
indeed, it is bright out - the snow is glaring, and the sky is so very blue. what a difference a day makes! might be time to head outside to play again.

the gather vortex goes on unabated, doesn't it? i find myself in circles all the time. so much for just a few minutes, checking this or that!
clare - it's hard to keep looking. most people just take a glance, don't they?
dm - i'll ask my dad. i thought it was a sparrow? he'll know. there are a lot of them though.
thanks, all!
I just love the way you bring us all into your life. Beautiful piece!
wilhelmine - you are brave to keep up. my parents have dialup bc they can't get the cable to come out that far. we are more in the boonies than they are, but we are lucky enough to have cable. when i go there, and have to do my email, i go nuts. i commend you on your working through this! you win the gold star for patience on gather, for sure...
thank you all!
