Out Of Place.... two word challenge...coddled insanity

I think we are in the right place, it is odd to meet an offworlder who subscribes to the notions of which you speak: curdled sanity...

Cathy, very creative and heart-felt. Sometimes I feel the same way about power and money being the goal for many people. Sad, really.

cathy - yes. it is sad, the way things are manipulated today. this poem/challenge made me think. thank you for that!

While this is so often touted as the greatest country in the world, there are other countries where they live good and life is less hectic. But this is home and perhaps if enough writers write the right things, we can help right this ship but it's a big ship and not easy to change it's direction. Your thoughts are good ones except for the part about leaving.

Emigrating to New Zealand isn't easy. I checked into it. Of course I'd have to leave my wife behind. She informs me she isn't emigrating to ANY of ze lands I think up. "This too shall pass," she says of President Shrub.

And it was only a matter of time before someone took the one-word INSANITY and wrote about our gov'ment.

I feel ya, girl. Lets all move to New Zealand. We can start a "gather" community, coddling each other's insanity... err I mean editing each other's work. :P

I'm beginning to think it's a planet and not a country we need to emigrate to. What does THAT tell you about the human condition?

More political commentary. I relate to your feelings on many levels. I could never be a politician. Level-headed logical thinking is something that comes natural to me.

Very thoughtful take on Coddled Insanity and there's just too much of it here. It's depressing.

Cathy, very good take on coddled insanity. i lived in Canada for 9 years; in many ways, it surpasses us - in sensitivity, in human values, in middle class life. it's been a difficult adjustment back to my country of birth, the USA.

Some times I get overwhelmed by the insane goings on in the insulated hallowed halls of congress. Scares me silly. I'm leaning towards hermit life.
But I know that won't help anything, will it?

Frankly, Cathy, I have been frightened by the condition I find our country in as well. Always being an activist I am forever trying to affect change but I see too many being a hermit hidiing from the reality. It is just so hard seeing the direction we are going.

My cousins across the Tasman in Noo Zealand would welcome you Cathy, and they have indeed shown some gutsy 'sanity' over the years. No point coming here though (cept for the weather and the beer) as Orstralia is pretty much like the US these days just on a much smaller scale. So many of you seem to feel this way that I'm sure the turn around must come.

Cathy - While you know we have very diverse political beliefs, I can certainly appreciate your terrific writing. Not only a great take on "coddled insanity" but I could truly feel your pain and frustration.

Cathy - I too am not totally in agreement with all of your points, but I do agree that it too frequently seems our priorities here are not how they should be, that truth is just too hard to uncover, and the decisions made are often scary. I don't know that going to another country would help, but sometimes it does seem like a good choice! Nice take on the Coddled Insanity. Thanks for participating!

I hope we can all pass on a big collective sigh at my words, but ya know as a pastor I hear this all the time. I've lived from Alaska to Ireland to Canton, Ohio, by you Cathy; and the song never gets a bit sweeter when its sung from a heart that feels the truth. When a person of real integrity attempts to derive their significance or tries to calibrate their ethical machinery from this world it becomes a sorrowful misfitting. Rather one should find their significance in knowing that they are a beloved child of God; truly significant, loved beyond ones imperfections, mistakes and confusions. You should embrace that alien sense because it is your good discernment that has made you a witness rather than a participant in the spiraling madness of a world, plunging unrestrained toward insanity and judgement. If you assess things are worse than "they used to be" you're astute not paranoid; and the only part of you that is alien is your spirit weeping for what you inherently know is true. The world's loss of concrete rights and wrongs in the name of trying to appear intellectual and politically correct has rendered this condition in which it appears its OK to do, or say, or believe, anything you want - and its all free of consequences. It just ain't so.
It is a really great thing to your heart is being stirred in such important matters, give it some space to pour out its pain and grief; I believe you will find God trying to hook-up with you in a mighty way, ... don't be surprised if their is a mission in your future to somewhere that needs a heart such as yours.
