There are actually two ways to publish content to your group, and each method works a little bit differently.
Publishing As A User
The first is by using the Publish link which appears in the green navigation bar at the top of any Gather page. The second method is to use the Publish a group article link which appears on your group homepage, under the Manage Content section in the right column of the page.
When you use the Publish link at the top of the page, you are submitting content under your own username and you have the option of making that content visible to everyone, selected individuals, and/or any group that you are a member of.
Publish Under The Group Name
When you use the Publish a group article link, you are submitting content under the group name, and that content is will be visible in the group and on the main gather site if you have checked the group setting that allows "everyone" to see the group content. With this process you can't publish the article to other groups. This link is only visible to group owners and group members who have been given permission to publish under the group name.

2) does the gather owner accrue extra gather points by virtue of his/her being owner and if so, is it tied to number of members?
3) Is there a function to invite folks from your connect list that just invites those who have newly become your contacts? If not, that would be helpful, then you could send out invites every couple of months or so
but when I check, there's only 2.there !! .one guy emailed me, frustrated he keeps sending, but I'm not putting on.:
My group members want to know if there's a way they can be alerted wihen someone in the group publishes
Edward, you do not have to be a member of a group to recieve updates when somebody posts to the group. On any group homepage, you have the options to either join a group or subscribe to a group. By subscribing, you will get updates when somebody posts to the group and you don't have to be a member.
