the park bench
after the rain has fallen
is wet
dogwood flowers are long
gone with fall heading on
leaves can hang low
air drifts thick
like liquid it swirls
forms eddies around the
tree trunks
plunging near the waters
ledge
heavy the earth tone river
flows down
fish and nutria feel
the changes of light and heat
upon the shoulder of the bank
lets pretend this rain
is only a passing phase
on the face of the year
let clouds break out
and pour themselves
to sleep
