The nytimes sez, of a young japanese Richard Branson/Mikhail Khodorovsky-type figure:
I entirely love the idea of Roppongi Hills. I'm so bored with Tokyo: the traffic, the touts, the tourists. I would love to be able to walk out of my home, take an elevator, a couple escalators and a heated walkway to shopping, steak, cinema at Virgin Toho, and then run into some other "cool" businesspeople at one of the in-complex after clubs later on. Don't even need to bring my coat. Why not come up to my apartment later? Here's my elevator code. God, I haven't even been to Shibuya in like, a month. I do 75% of my deals at the Metro Hat these days ... did you catch Modigliani at the Cone, by the way? It wasn't my favorite period, honestly. I will have to catch Francesco Clemente at the Mohri Gallery up on 75 next month.

As I type this I realize it's one of the things I like about Gather...we have a lot in common, but it's more an openness to something beyond the superficial similarities.
