Congressional Travel
In the wake of the lobbying scandal, Congress is debating a limit to the amount of travel members can take when private interests foot the bill. World traveler Jesse Kalisher disagrees with the efforts to cutback on travel, and tells Weekend America why he would be the ideal travel guide for members of Congress.

Abramhoff indictment was not that the system
was simply extended, but that the clients were
extorted. The justice department and FBI have
complianed for years that congressional
excesses are extremely hard to prove; it
almost takes a sting operation to snag them.
In the Abramoff case, the allegation is that
the clients were told to pay or else the vote
would go against their interests. This goes
beyond the garden variety "wink, wink"
transaction that has become Washington's
stock in trade.
