Conservatives on the site might want to consider abstinence. Ben & Jerry's foundation benefits a lot of progressive causes, and although they sold out a lot of the money still comes from Beatrice shares, I've heard!
Ben and Jerry were, in fact, two very shaggy imported hippies in Burlington, Vermont who rented an abandoned gas station cheap, somewhere around the time of the gas crisis in the 70's. It still had pumps in the parking lot when they opened.
When I was in high school, my friends and I would go there every time we came to Burlington from Montpelier.
In Montpelier, at that time, there was one little corner store where you got scoops of ice cream. They served chocolate, vanilla, and the "flavor of the week" which had been strawberry since sometime shortly after WWII.
We were grateful.
