Haikus in Praise of The Wonder of God's Hand Surrounding Me
Burning red, golden
Shimmering canopy o'er
Then falls to the ground
******
Waterfall rushing
Dragonflies flitter and land
Cool water on feet
******
Flashing blue, red, gray
Dives, swoops, scolds, sings to heaven
One stands motionless
******
CowSpring beauties, vi'lets
slips cover the creek side
Dandelion greens
********
Droplets, frosty mists
Downpours beating the grass down
crystals white, cold,
******
The ladybugs come
walking sticks, wasps and stinkbugs
6-legged creatures
*******
Toadstools and morels
Stumpers and amanitas
Bracket fungi--cool!
*****
Whistling wind through pines
Call out through a sparkling night
Coyotes call back
*******
Mossy green --green moss
Lichens grow on the north side
Small red spots here, there
*****
Startled, quail chicks run
Across my trail as I walk
Delightful to watch
******
Orchard trees, berries
Blossoming, then bearing fruit
Sometimes frost gets them
******
Towering way above
Climber, flyer, crawler house
Shade for my house too
******
Musty oak sawdust
Overpowering lilies
Faint skunk, dead fish too!
*****
Blanketed white bank
Babbling, bubbling brook
Blue sky, clouds above
******
Fill my heart and soul
I cannot give enough praise
I lift songs to You!

I especially liked, Startled, quail chicks run/Across my trail as I walk/
Delightful to watch.
You do these haikus so effortlessly and so well. I am rarely envious of a fellow poet, but (sigh) as I told my connection Amber, I have never been able to write haikus well. It is a bitter irony; I am protean in all my genre-shifting, but the simplest form of all completely escapes me. You have taught me much here, however, Carol. Thank you.
