Leper

Mark 1:40-45

Not always unclean

I was loved by my mother

I played with my brothers

I helped my grandmother

I was touched by the rabbi

Not always cast out

I played in the village square

I ran with the other children

I grew to a young man

I looked at the village girls with long eyes

Then the unclean, the evilness……………………………….it came upon me

I was alone--for too long

My anguish was too great to bear

Yesterday He touched me With love He touched me

I am whole

I am clean

Though He told me not to speak of this,

I CANNOT DO ANYTHING BUT TELL THE WHOLE WORLD

This man named Jesus--He made me whole

I shout out his name

JESUS !

I love the way you are able to enter the point of view of the marginalized leper and make it your own, Carol. This goes beyond empathy, this is transcendental awareness that we are all One. Your Higher Power has truly filled you with the love and compassion necessary to remove your ego ad put yourself in another's place. The language is fiercely declaratory, unvarnished, the finest sort of plainsong: I LOVED THIS.
