This weekend I went snorkeling. As a kid I spent many a day exploring the depths of the the Atlantic and pretending that I was on Jacques Yves Cousteau team. As I write this a fond feeling bubbles up. During my youth Mr. Cousteau's television shows were highlights. Each episode made me aware of a completly different world.
This weekend our friend Rich Luhr coaxed me back to that world. We were in Maine where Rich, Eleanor and thier daugther Emma joined us in their Airstream trialer - Vinatage Thunder.
On Saturday Rich and I (Eleanor was kind enough to loan me her gear) snorkled close to the beach. The water was a bit murky but we had a good time exploring.
Yesterday as the long weekend was coming to a close, just before it was time to pack up and head back to Boston we went for a final swim. Rich and Emma got thier fins and masks - Susan and I decided to go for a quick dip before we hit the highway. I did my dip and headed inside to the shower. Three minutes later Susan came in and told me that Rich says I should join him. Thoughts of the tolls in New Hampshire popped in my head - Then I remembered - This is it!
I scrambled back to the beach, hoisted on mask and fins and joined Rich out amongst the seaweed.
Beyond, the water was as clear as vodka strait up. Rich pointed to blue starfish. We saw crabs, schools of fish and coral that one would never think would be on the coast of Maine. In short this was a moment I was glad to have.
As fate would have it the ride home was timely. We even found the ez pass only lanes (which for some reason are in the middle of the lanes)in New Hampshire and we made it home in time to watch the saved edition of Entourage before bed!
Next time opportunity knocks I intend to answer the door.

Thanks!!
How many of us hang our heads in shame as we glide by the toll booth collectors as the green light illuminates our way. Is there any better example of technology changing the way people work - or don't ?
