There is a whole nother world out there, far beyond us. Their low end is beyond our high end. Impressed with the stats on that high-end Sun box? Try 16gigsRAM minimum on the
IBM z9. Up to a couple hundred processors in four different banks. There the comparison falters. Because all the other stats are totally unfamiliar to me. And the buzzwords. On the "hardware at a glance" page there is prominent play given to the number of Coupling Links. Channels is also a big differentiator and maxes out at the beguiling level of "1024/120/48/16 (ESCON / FICON Express / OSA-Express / HiperSockets)." Zero idea what that means ... Hardware crypto support on 16 PCI-X cards. Max of 512GB RAM. Storage not included ... Wow.
