BOSTON, MA—July 9, 2007—Paralyzed Veterans of America, a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1946, has launched a group called "Support Veterans" (http://veterans.gather.com) on Gather.comª, the leader in social media for adults. The new community is designed to serve as an online forum for veterans, active service members and family and friends to share their experiences and accomplishments.
"Veterans.gather.com is a community for America's heroes," said Tom Gerace, founder and CEO of Gather.com. "We are excited to be able to provide a platform that that allows Paralyzed Veterans of America to build a deeper relationship with its supporters, and provide veterans and their friends and families with a place to discuss issues that matter to them most."
"We work to empower all our disabled veterans with everything they need to excel," said Mark Dowis, associate executive director of Development and Marketing, Paralyzed Veterans of America. "The Support Veterans group on Gather.com will help us to harness the power of social media to unite people and activities toward our single mission: improved quality of life for all people with disabilities."
