About tags on Gather
Think of tags as an index of all the content on Gather. You can
click on tags to browse any content -- posts, photos, or videos -- they relate
to. Just found a post you really liked? Click on one of its tags to find
related information. Want more people to find your photos? Include tags that
relate to its subject. See a fantastic video and want to know more? Use the
tags to explore related content. Tags can be words or phrases; always make sure
your tags are directly related to what you're sharing.
Editing tags
To add or delete tags after you've shared content, click
"edit" from your post, photo, or video. On this edit page, you can
update your tags. Once you've added your tags, scroll to the bottom of the page
and click Save.
Choosing tags
Tags make it easy for members to search for content they have an
interest in. Ask yourself what your content is really about. If you could
describe your content in a handful of words, what would they be? Then choose
those words that most closely describe it. Remember netiquette and do not tag
spam.
Geotags
When sharing or editing a photo, you can set a geotag that identifies where it was taken.
When a user sees your photo, a map showing the location will appear with it. Geotagging is a
fun way to remember exactly where your vacation photos were taken or to share landmarks around
your hometown. To set a geotag, provide your city, state, country, ZIP code, or other address
to get started. Once the map displays the location you entered, you can move the pin to set the exact location.
