Sales and Marketing
The ideal candidate must have a proven track record in online media sales and significant agency contacts. Gather is seeking an energetic self-starter who is pro-active in driving revenue and increasing client base. Candidate must be results-driven and be committed to creating new business opportunities.
This media sales professional will be dedicated to selling Gather.com media solutions through media agencies and direct to clients. By joining Gather you will have the opportunity to be an integral part of a fast growing organization with significant opportunity for advancement.
Candidates must have a deep understanding of the west coast advertiser market with a strong client and agency rolodex.
Responsibilities
- Proactively prospect, qualify, grow, and maintain an account list of advertisers.
- Strategize with clients to demonstrate how Gather can meet their marketing objectives through social media and marketing solutions and straight media buys
- Develop and cultivate deep relationships at all levels from brand managers, account executives to media buyers
- Identify and understand trends within client markets and industries
- Continuously grow list of leads by pitching new business to advertising agencies and clients
- Hit target revenue quota
- Pitch new business to advertising agencies and direct clients
- Work internally across departments to create compelling media solutions for advertisers.
- Partner with sales marketing manager to update sales presentations and create proposals
- Identify, position and frame social networking and social media solutions or straight CPM buys within the context of client marketing/business needs.
Experience
- 5+ years media sales experience
- Must have experience in online advertising sales and media buying
- Proven track record of success driving revenue through the development of strategic relationships
- Track record of structuring and managing complex negotiations to successful closure and delivery (at a 6-figure level)
- Strong understanding of demographic and psychographic targeting and brand positioning
Requirements
- Position is based in San Francisco with travel to Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and Boston periodically.
- Good written communication skills with PowerPoint. Be able to articulate client marketing needs and market demand succinctly and effectively.
- Must be a good communicator and skilled at developing relationships through sales outreach
- Skilled at prioritizing and managing time effectively.

Gather Inc. has an immediate opening for a Web UI Developer in our downtown Boston office. You will work in a creative and forward-thinking startup environment. As part of Gather's User Experience Design team, you’ll interact daily with Management, Technology, and Creative teams to create our leading edge user-driven media platform.
Primary responsibilities include translating creative concepts and site architecture into functional, dynamically developed user interface solutions for gather.com and other associated online environments. This position reports to the Manager of User Interface Development.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate serious interest in and regular participation with social networking environments that include user-generated media, photo and file-sharing technology, communication web applications, and online communities. This is your chance to be on the cutting edge of web 2.0.
Responsibilities
- Translating creative concepts into functional, dynamically developed UI
- Designing and developing user interface features and enhancements
- Research and propose technology solutions to enhance new and existing site features

While this is primarily a web design position, this person will also play a key role in planning site features and enhancements, conduct industry and user research, and participate in driving Gather's overall user experience. This position reports to the Director of User Experience Design.

Responsibilities
- Provide original design concepts based on management input, business needs, and project documentation for gather.com, related websites, email communications, and marketing projects
- Collaboratively develop navigation structures, interaction designs, and proto-sites for proof of concept, creative development, and implementation
- Produce multimedia assets such as video and audio productions for online use
- Work with UI developers and software engineers to translate completed designs into HTML & CSS
- Participate in the development of information architecture documents such as wire frames, site maps, work flow diagrams, and page definition documentation
- Assist with user studies, including focus groups, one-on-one user research, remote data gathering, and surveys
- Provide competitive analysis and industry research

Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in web design role developing consumer-focused websites
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study such as Fine Arts, Design, or Communications
- Understanding of best practices and user-centered design methodologies, especially for online media, social networking, and e-commerce
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and FLASH
- Working knowledge of programming languages such as JavaScript and JSP
